Glass, Jewellery

Hand-made fused glass vases, bowls and dishes, ornaments, hangings, plaques, coasters, art pieces and jewellery

I am an engineer by education and was a business consultant for much of my career. I have always loved to make things with my hands, so I recently set up a small fused glass studio in Linton, Cambridge and started Limned Glass as an outlet for my creativity.

I have been privileged to learn from some exceptionally talented glass artists who have taught, inspired and helped me, especially Amanda Simmons and Jess Clifford. On a broader artistic basis I have also taken inspiration from the late Bob Ross, through his calm, positive and empowering – albeit populist – ‘Joy of Painting’ TV series.

I am always keen to experiment and try new things; the engineer in me enjoys the technical challenges of working with new techniques and processes and the artist in me is always exploring new ways of using glass to create different forms and shapes. I design and make my own coloured and patterned glass, using a variety of techniques, to give the widest possible pallet of colours, shapes and textures.

I love the interplay of light with translucent, opalescent, iridised and dichroic glass especially when I can melt different glasses and powders together to create new colours and forms. I take inspiration from the world around me – and from the colours, swirls and shapes within the glass itself – to produce fused glass vases, dishes, bowls, tableware, vessels, hangings, art pieces, ornaments and jewellery.
